Dr Xianglin (Joe) Lee

Xianglin is a dedicated Tai Chi teacher with over three decades of experience in traditional Chinese internal arts. His journey began in China, where he studied Chen Style Tai Chi with Grandmaster Kongjie Gou from 1984 to 1986. He continued to practice and teach privately at a university in China until moving to Manchester in 2000.

Since 1997, Xianglin has also received direct guidance from Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei, a 19th-generation Chen family inheritor and 11th-generation direct-line successor of Chen Style Taijiquan. Alongside Tai Chi, Xianglin has trained in Ba Gua Zhang and Taoist Qigong under respected masters from the Nanyue Mountain monastery and Zhangjiajie Forest Park during his university years.

In 2006, he founded the Tai Chi For Life School (formerly Tai Chi Benefits School) to bring the health and mindfulness benefits of Tai Chi to the North West of England. Over the years, he has led classes for diverse communities and organizations, including Age UK Cheshire East and the Manchester Chinese Health and Information Centre.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, Xianglin adapted by moving his teaching online, continuing to share his knowledge through virtual classes both independently and with partners like MoveGB. Now, both his in-person and online classes are available to a wider audience than ever before.
